HAIR TRANSPLANT

HAIR TRANSPLANT

Environmental pollution, stress, unhealthy food, hormonal imbalances, certain medications, and toxic habits, such as smoking and drinking, lead to the consequences of hair loss. Hair loss and baldness can be embarrassing at times. There are some temporary solutions like hair patches and hair growth treatment, but they have their own pros and cons. Though costlier than other conventional solutions, hair transplant has a permanent effect in regaining lost hair.

BMI Index

It is a procedure in which the surgeon extracts hair strands from the high-density area of the scalp and places those hair follicles in the bald part of the scalp. Typically, the surgeon moves the hair from the back part of the scalp where the hair density is higher. Hair transplants are clinical procedures done by trained hair transplant surgeons.

Types of Hair Transplant?

There are two types of hair transplant procedures based on the number of hairs extracted:
  • Stilt Graft – containing 4-10 hair strands per graft
  • Micrograft- containing 1-2 hairs strands per graft

Who can opt for a hair transplant?

  • People who are suffering from baldness
  • Women who are facing hair thinning such that their scalp is visible
  • Those who have lost hair due to some sort of scalp injury or infection

Who should avoid hair transplant?

  • Women with very thin hair or baldness around most part of the scalp
  • People having keloids in their scalp
  • People with fewer donor hair follicles
  • People who lost hair due to chemotherapy, as the hair regrows once the sessions are over.
The procedure can be performed in two ways, i.e., FUT and FUE. After cleansing the target area, the surgeon numbs the part of the scalp with local anesthesia. Following are the two procedural approaches that the surgeon may take:

1. Follicular Unit Transplantation ( FUT) :

  • The surgeon will cut out a several inches long strip from the back of the scalp, using a scalpel.
  • The incisions are closed with stitches.
  • The surgeon divides the strip into very small sections and then implants them to the bald part of the scalp.

2. Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE)

  • In this, the hair follicle is cut out directly from the scalp. Around a hundred to thousand punches are made in the scalp very diligently by the surgeon.
  • The grafts and the incised portion are placed back in the scalp and bandaged. The bandages remain on the head for a few days.

Healing

As the graft is in the form of tiny pinholes, they require less time to heal. Following the prescribed medications and aftercare religiously is essential to get effective hair growth results. Though the transplanted hair may fall out in the span of 2-3 weeks, this makes way for the new hair follicle to grow in the place.

How Homeopathy Helps After A Hair Transplant :

Since the period for hair regrowth is quite long, homeopathic medicines can heal from within by mitigating the causes of hair loss, such as hormonal issues or dietary deficiency, etc. The homeopathic medicines work at the root level to treat, heal and help in hair regrowth.
