Overview

Laryngitis is inflammation of the voice box ( larynx) due to infection or irritation. In the larynx, vocal cords are lined by mucous membranes, which covers the membranes or cartilage. Usually, they open or close smoothly. In this condition, the vocal cords become irritated or inflamed due to which the swelling in the vocal cords impedes the sound produced through the air passage. The voice becomes hoarse or very low, even undetectable sometimes due to this condition.

Laryngitis can be acute or chronic depending on the throat condition and susceptibility to infection. Mostly it is caused by an infection in the air passage. It can be persistent in some conditions, calling for medical attention.

How Homeopathic Treatment Helps in Laryngitis

Homoeopathic treatment can be very useful in treating both acute and chronic laryngitis. Though the prescription varies from cases to case, it is a safe treatment.

List of some Homoeopathic treatments

  • Argentum Met and Arum Triphyllum  – It is used to treat when laryngitis is caused due to a stressed voice. It is used when symptoms include hoarseness of voice or sore feeling, burning in the throat or pain in the throat.
  • Phosphorus- Homeopathic medicine used to treat laryngitis by violent tickling in the larynx leading to cough. The cough worsens with talking and reading.
